This is volume one of two LPs documenting a concert in East Berlin, at the Friedrichstadt Palast, on Oct 16, 1966, as part of the American Folk Blues Festival organized by Horst Lippmann and Fritz Rau. Safe to say that this is a rather rare record and a historical document illustrating how the East German government tried to instrumentalize the blues for anti-American propaganda at the height of the Vietnam War. The result, though, was to encourage East German dissidents and the development of alternative music in East Germany.
